Pediatric Dentistry
Pediatric Dentistry (Pedodontics) is the branch of science that aims to protect the healthy milk and permanent teeth of children aged 0-13 and to eliminate the problems caused by caries, trauma, hereditary and similar factors in these teeth.
Milk teeth usually begin to appear when the child is six months old. The eruption of milk teeth is completed at approximately 2.5-3 years of age. During this period, there are 20 milk teeth in the mouth. Milk teeth are more prone to decay due to their structure. By the age of 6, the first permanent teeth begin to appear in the mouth. This situation continues until the age of 12-13 on average.
Existing caries in milk teeth negatively affect the development of permanent teeth erupting under the milk teeth. Our mission in our Department of Pedodontics is; To protect the oral and dental health of pediatric patients from birth to adolescence, to prevent various problems that may arise, to detect existing diseases and anomalies at an early stage and to ensure their treatment before they progress, to provide oral hygiene education and motivation to our pediatric patients and their parents.
Dental treatments of pediatric patients who are too young to comply with the required treatments and/or who cannot comply with treatment in the dental chair even though behavioral guidance techniques are applied, and patients with mental and/or physical disabilities must be performed under general anesthesia. At our faculty, dental treatments for children are not currently performed under general anesthesia. Our faculty provides services in its temporary building. With the new building, dental treatments will also be performed under general anesthesia.
In our Department of Pedodontics; All preventive and therapeutic practices are carried out for the oral and dental health of babies, children and adolescents between the ages of 0-14.
