Restorative Dentistry
The Department of Restorative Dentistry is the department that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that concern dental hard tissues and cause material loss in the tooth. The aim of our department is to repair material losses in dental hard tissues caused by caries or non-caries reasons, and to contribute to the restoration of lost aesthetics and function to the patient.
Treatment Services Offered in our Restorative Dentistry Department Clinic:
Composite and glass ionomer fillings, (front and back teeth)
Direct/indirect composite aesthetic restorations (inlay, onlay and laminates)
Aesthetic approaches to trauma and tooth fractures,
Teeth whitening (home type, office type and laser activated)
Dentin sensitivity treatments,
Vital pulp treatments,
Pre-prosthetic restorations,
Conservative dental treatment in geriatric (elderly) and oncology patient groups,
Individual protective (anti-caries) applications in adults,

What is tooth decay?
Tooth decay is the loss of dental hard tissue that develops when the plaque on the tooth surface cannot be completely cleaned after ingesting caries-causing foods (especially sugar and carbohydrates). Tooth decay may occur in different periods of time, depending on the resistance of the patient's tooth structure to decay.
What can be done to prevent tooth decay?
Caries Treatment Composite Restorations (Fillings):
In the treatment of caries, first the decayed tooth tissue is removed and then the tooth is restored with the appropriate filling material. Today, with technological developments, the most commonly used filler material in the clinic is composite resins. Composite filling is the restoration of material losses in teeth due to caries, fractures, erosion, attrition and abrasion, with tooth-colored dimethacrylate-based composite material. It is especially used in the restoration of teeth in areas where aesthetics are important and also in the restoration of the back group teeth.
Restoration of teeth with excessive material loss:
Inlay-onlay restorations are aesthetic restorations applied in tooth color (composite-ceramic) on teeth with a lot of material loss. These types of restorations that remain outside the mouth are fillings that are finished under laboratory conditions after measurements are taken. These structures are bonded to the teeth in the second session.
Aesthetic Restorations:
These are fillings and restorations placed on teeth to change the color or shape of the tooth, to enlarge it, to aesthetically close gaps between teeth, or to treat a defect.
What can be done to whiten teeth?
Home whitening:
A special whitening plate is prepared for the patient by the dentist. By using whitening medications for a certain period of time (8-16 days), teeth become two to three shades whiter.
Office whitening:
Teeth whitening can be done in the patient chair with strong light sources within half an hour (two-three sessions). Teeth whitening can be done using different methods depending on the patient's tooth color. Combined whitening methods, where patients are used both at home and in the office, depending on the color of their teeth, have become more preferred in recent years.
